American Soldier

Image
A. I believe this photo is the most powerful photo of the 3 week edition because it shows how his deployment was very hard for him as he is praying to God to help him make it through his time in the army. When a person prays to The Holy Spirit, they are in times of need and/or crisis. The fact that he is praying very seriously adds so much depth and true emotion to the picture.  B. The images work together to tell a story because it shows Ian's change as a person from when he deployed to the end when he finally got married to his girlfriend Devin after getting back home from Iraq. The pictures show his raw emotions, his love ones and what matters most to him which tells an eventful and deepening story throughout the photo gallery.  C. The captions enhance the photos because they give more details and background knowledge from within the photo. I learned many more details about Ian's life through the captions! I also can note that Ian matured significantly when he was

Ethics in Fashion Photography

1. In the video they made her lips larger, her neck skinnier and taller, her eyes lower and bigger, her ears whiter, her hair darker puffier, her eyebrows bigger and her face skinnier to make her look un-humanly 'beautiful". 2. In the video they changed the model so she had a skinnier torso and neck, bigger eyes and eyebrows, smooth and glossier skin, bigger lips, smaller nostrils, longer and smaller legs, brighter hair, whiter and smoother skin and they changed the size of her bottom. 3. The changes made with photoshop on the computer were that they started with a model and took away her abs, smoothed and whiter skin, larger face features, thinner body, smaller chest and were able to turn her into a PIZZA! Photoshop is unreal!! 4. This is highly un-ethical and unacceptable because changing someones skin color, features and other details portrays an untruthful picture and is very offensive. When photo-shoppers change the way people look very dramatically, it can offend t

Mural Project Review

1. If my team took photos of the theme "Affection at its finest"(How People Show Affection), we could picture people hugging or holding hands, people doing a passion they truly love, or people with their pets, etc. All these examples are ways to photograph people's love for their passions, pets or fellow peers. I also agree that these photos could be taken pretty much anywhere from a family gathering to downtown Austin. 2. I will have to think about aperture, ISO and shutter speed. These are important because it can affect the quality of my photos significantly. (the blur, how grainy it is, the lighting, etc.) If my camera settings are not right, it can mess up my whole photo. 3. I think we could post our murals on Instagram, Facebook, or Tumbler. There are many ways to post things on social media, but I think Instagram is the best for this project because you can receive likes and reposts. (and it won't disappear over 24 hours like it does on Snapchat) To create

1. I picked this image because it shows one of the first Americans to ever land on the moon. It caught my eye because the depth of the picture is amazing. You can see the craters and rocky land he is standing on. You can see the detail in his astronaut suit and helmet. I can also see the American flag on his arm and it makes me proud to be an American.  2. I read that this is a picture of Buzz Aldrin taken by Neil Armstrong. Although Neil was the first man on the moon, he was  also in charge of taking the photos so that is why he took a picture of Buzz. (the 2nd American man on the moon) In this picture, I see the sun's reflected light creating a shadow of Buzz. I also see all of the attachments on Aldrin's spacesuit. In Aldrin's visor, I can see Neil Armstrong standing by their spacecraft.  3. Information I collected from this photo includes a link to more information.  https://www.nasa.gov/audience/forstudents/k-4/stories/first-person-on-moon.html In this artic

Extra Credit 1. While looking at this article, I saw the most beautiful and emotional pictures I have ever seen. Nick Brandt captured the subjects of his photographs with much focus and detail. He also captured so much natural beauty while he was near the animals. I felt very sad when I read something very true: if we don't stop hunting animals and making their environment very hard to live in they will be gone and their only beauty will be seen though many photographs when they are gone. 2. 3. This is my favorite photo by Brandt because he really captured the significance of the elephant in the photo. This photo is also so beautiful because the light shines down on the elephant which makes it look and seem very angelic and precious. ( they are ;) )  4. There is simplicity, balance and framing in this photo. Simplicity is when a photo is simple with only few distractions and elements in it. There is simplicity because the light is shining on the elephant creating
