The Falling Man

Image
Reading about 9/11 is very miserable, but I would like to focus on writing about The Falling Man. The Falling Man was a heartbreaking picture for me to process. For someone to have to choose which way to face their death- either jumping off a building or burning alive- is very intense and devastating. All I know is that if I had to make that decision, I would die knowing I did not get to say goodbye to my loved ones and planet Earth. This photo is so heart wrenching because most people cannot relate to having to make a choice this severe. This photo made me feel sorrowful because it is very depressing for anyone to have to face their death no matter their decision. 9/11 was a day of realization for how safe our country was, and what precautions needed to be made to protect the people of our country. 9/11 will be forever remembered. While younger people can't relate, we do understand the devastation 9/11 caused thought the United States. 9/11 will be forever remembered, and

Merger (Rule is to avoid!)

Image
This photo shows merging because there isn't an obvious difference between the background and the foreground- they are MERGED! An element in this photo is fear because the expressions of people's faces show great fright and panic. Although this picture is a merger, it does capture detailed emotions from the event.

Balance

Image
This photo is balanced because there are about the same amount of building space in each half of the picture and the explosion is about equal too. An element in this photo is shape because the photographer captured the shape and roundness of the flames and smoke. This photo is better because of that element because it shows the depth of the explosion.

Simplicity

Image
This photo represents simplicity because in the foreground you can see how the plane crashed into the building but the background is just the blue sky. An element in this photo is space because this photographer captured the whole building and skyline. This technique effects the photo because people can see much of the event happening in one picture.

Lines

Image
This photo represents lines because behind "the falling man" the lines of the building create a simple background that point towards where the man is going- down. An element in this photo is line because the lines are leading to the man's death... This photo is very emotional because the man had two ways of dying- by burning alive or jumping off of a very tall building. The photographer really captured everyone's emotions and curiosity. How far has he fallen already? How much room does he have before he crashes into the street?

Rule of Thirds

Image
This photo is rule of thirds because the firemen are right along the grid lines of the rule of thirds. An element in this photo is texture because in the background there is much debris everywhere and it really creates a sense of bravery in the firefighters. This photo was very beneficial because of the technique. By using the rule of thirds, you are able to see the hurt firemen and the dangerous area around them.

Framing

Image
I picked this photo as an example of framing because the blown up building creates a frame around the fireman. An element in this photo is shape. I think this because the shape of the frame in this photo really shows how destructive this event was. One effect of the photo is the feeling of thankfulness. When there is a picture of someone helping in a time of need it really makes people appreciate and realize how they are putting there life on the line to help in a time of despair.

My Favorite Photos from my First Shoot!

Image
I chose this picture because I love how the tree is spread out behind her. In my mind, the tree branches make Kaia look like she has wings. In my opinion, whenever someone has wings it is a symbol that means people can conquer anything they set their mind to.  I think the lighting and staging made this picture and it's meaning good. I think if I would have got a shot with more of the tree in it people would realize the meaning of the picture easier. I love how I instructed Kaia to sit on the rock to make it look like she had wings! ;) 3-4 sentences I chose this picture  because I like how I blurred out the background of my photo so I could focus on the bulldog. I like this photo because it shows the bulldog has strength and importance because the photo is focused on the bulldog and nothing else. I like this picture because the bulldog is our school mascot and it is a significant part of Bowie's past, present and future. I think this photo is good because I was able t

History of the Camera and it's Basic Functions

1. The camera obscura effect was the first camera. The camera obscura effect was created by Chinese and Greek philosophers around 500 BCE. In a pitch black room, a very small hole was created on one wall. Light would shine through the hole, and the picture was projected upside down on the opposite wall.  The hole was the "lens" because it projected light into a dark room which created the image photographers were looking for. 2. The process of Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens making high quality lenses and understanding optics helped develop the new modern cameras we use today. 3. The glass lens, a dark box and film were all parts of the modern camera which was invented by Niepce. 4. Modern digital cameras are similar to Niepce's camera because light still goes through the lens into the camera and exposes the film! The result is still the same too - a  photograph! 5. Digital cameras use digital film to capture an image. 6. While the auto mode is in complete co

Welcome To My Blog!

I decided to apply for the Photo 1 class because I have always been passionate about photography and    taking creative pictures. When my dad first purchased an expensive camera, I immediately started taking photos and creating environments to take photoshoots in. I LOVE photographing nature, people, and capturing emotional moments through a camera. I also took this class because I want to improve my photography skills and learn to navigate the settings on a camera. I am thrilled to have an amazing year in this class!
